My inner goddess is jumping up and down to introduce you to amazing essential oils I have been using to relax my senses and get a beauty glow. I invite you to indulge in this aromatic journey and let it heal your senses in the most intense ways. For centuries, these essential oils have been used to heal, relax and get a flawless skin. The more you use them, the more mystic it gets.

What are Essential Oils?

“Essential oils are extracted directly from the bark, flower, fruit, leaf, seed or root of a plant or tree and just one drop can have powerful health benefits. Essential oils are highly concentrated oils that have a strong aroma. By concentrating the oils of these plants you are literally separating the most powerful healing compounds of a plant into a single oil” – Dr.Axe

Essential oils are highly concentrated and should always be mixed with Carrier oils.

Carrier Oils

Here are 10 amazing essential oils DIYs for beauty and wellness:

Ultimate bathing experience

Make your very own Coconut oil bath melts. Melt 8 ounces of Coconut oil and mix 15 drops of your favourite essential oil (I love Tea-Tree oil!). Pour the mixture in the moulds and refrigerate it. Pop it out and VOILA your very own bath melt is ready. (Caution: Coconut oil can make your bath tub slippery, so be careful!)

DIY perfume

Mix 25 drops of essential oil (Sweet orange or mandarin oil) and ¼ cup of vodka. Higher the content of alcohol the better it is. Keep it in a glass bottle for 2-3 weeks and your perfume is ready.

Fragrance Notes

Moisturizer

Almond, Coconut and Jojoba Oil are perfect for giving healthy face massage every day for ultimate skin radiance. You can make your very own moisturizer at home by mixing coconut oil, lavender oil and tea tree oil. (Tip: Whip this mixture to make it smooth and creamy)

Essential Oils for Face

Highlighter

To give yourself youthful dewy look, dab a small amount of coconut oil on the high points of your face and you will glow like a disco ball.

Treat blemish and acne

Neem Oil and Tea Tree oil are champions when it comes to treat acne spots and blemish. Mix few drops of both the oils and apply it directly on the spot. Neem oil is anti-bacterial and works best to clear that tiny pimple on your face and tea tree oil makes sure that it keeps a check on your oily skin.

WELLNESS

Relaxation

Not just topical application, go for some aromatic experience as well. Oil diffuser can help you get the maximum benefits of the essential oils as well.  Diffuse dome lavender oil to reduce stress, wild orange to improve mood, frankincense for stress buster or the combination of any of your favorite oils. Add 5 drops of peppermint oil and 5 drops of wild orange to revive positive energy around you.

Body Massage

Mix a couple of your favorite essential oil (Lavender or orange oil) with a carrier oil (Coconut or Almond oil) and get a soothing massage to relax your senses. (Ummm…I am tempted to go right now and get a massage.)

Energy boost

Instead of injecting caffeine in your body to get some energy boost, try to diffuse 3 drops of lemon and 3 drops of peppermint.  Peppermint, lemon, wild orange and frankincense are the oils to refresh your senses and uplift aroma.

Reduce congestion

I still remember my mum used to dab few drops of Eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief to decongest my soul. Eucalyptus oil is the known ancient remedy for cold and congestion. So next time when a monster called COLD makes you miserable inhale this magic potion and get rid of it.

Bug Repellent

To keep bugs and mosquitoes at bay try this natural, homemade bug repellant instead of using chemicals. Rub some lavender oil, peppermint or clove oil to repel insects. You can also make your very own bug repellant spray – Mix 5 drops of lemon oil, 10 drops of eucalyptus oil and 20 drops of citronella oil in 2 cups of water. Shhuuu…bug don’t spoil my vacation.

CAUTION

  • Do the patch test when applying essential oils on the skin.
  • Essential oils are highly concentrated and should only be used once it is mixed with carrier oil.
  • Talk to your Doctor if you are pregnant/nursing before using any essential oil
  • Talk to your Doctor before using essential oils on children.
