As I was flipping the pages of my quotes collection, I paused for a while and started to reflect on it. When was the last time a product touched your soul? Can a product erase the scarring left on your heart? Can Bio-Oil be an answer? I don’t know about you, but I don’t have my soul touched too often when it comes to a skincare product.

Let me tell you a small story of my life. When I was 10 years old, my brother and I were playing in the garden, when accidentally I got a long cut on the left side of my face. I still remember I tried not to cry even though there was blood everywhere as I didn’t want my brother to panic. The pain made me concentrate on one thing I shouldn’t be concentrating on- I have to live with this scar forever.

I still live with this scar but I am proud of it now as it didn’t scar my soul.

How would you feel when you are asked about your scar constantly? Instead of being angry, you’d probably ignore it and try every remedy in the world to erase it- from your life. I wish I had a product like Bio-Oil in my life back then. I strongly feel that this product would have acted as a magic wand to erase the fresh scar.

What makes my experience with Bio Oil stand out above all the rest of skincare products?

Here is my in-depth review of a hydrating pink oil, Bio-Oil:

What is Bio-Oil?

It is a face and body oil.

What it does?

Bio-Oil moisturizes extremely dry skin and helps the appearance of scars. It claims to improve scars, uneven skin tone, dehydrated skin and aging skin.

What are the ingredients?

How does it feel?

When I opened the bottle of Bio-Oil, the first thing I noticed was the fragrance. At first, I have to admit that I didn’t like it but after every use, I started liking the aroma. The oil itself is orange in color and it’s packaged in a plastic bottle.

When you apply Bio-Oil to the skin it feels soft and a bit greasy but it absorbs fast as you start massaging it. A little goes a long way!

What I liked?

I’m neither pregnant nor am I using it for stretch marks, so I am not going to talk about those claims. Also, I feel stretch marks that are embedded deep in the skin cannot go easily or fade overnight.

My problem area is my chin which has uneven skin tone and acne spots. I usually get acne only on my chin and I had six little black devils when I started using Bio-Oil. Yes! I count my acne spots. After using it every night for a week, my acne scars have started to fade and my chin area is getting better. I found it to be one of the most effective and quick healers for scars and uneven skin tone.

I love massaging my face with facial oils at night. It has become a staple night-time routine that I follow religiously. I now use it every night and wake up to glowy, dewy, hydrated skin – sounds cliched but true.

Another interesting tidbit: Use it underneath your foundation and it will act as a primer.

One more thing that I absolutely love about this cult-classic oil is that it is more effective than products twice its price. This baby is not pricey. You can find Bio-Oil in pharmacy, supermarket and online.

What I didn’t like?

Even though I loved this product, there are a couple of things that I need to mention here.

a) Mineral Oil or Paraffinum Liquidum is one of the ingredients of the product. If you are super-conscious about ingredients and have issues with mineral oil then you need to check it out before using it. Personally, I don’t have any problem with it.

b) Don’t expect overnight results. I thought it is important to mention here that even though Bio-Oil comes with cult status, it mentions that apply twice daily for a minimum of 3 months to get the desired results. Use consistently to get the results.

Final Thoughts

This oil in the light pink bottle gets a thumbs up from me as it has delivered quick results in fading my acne spots. But I am still not sure if it can do some miracle to erase the scar on my face too (which I doubt). You start trusting a product and you think you’ve got a magic wand, but you haven’t. There are deep routed scars that don’t vanish, they are there to show your journey. However, words kill, and I will continue using it for next three months to experience the result. As of now, I am going to use this hydrating light-pink oil and get rid of acne scars and uneven skin-tone.
