My two-and-a-half-year-old girl loves Lego – she is obsessed with it. It somehow quenches her BUILDER instinct and gives her a precious sense of pride. It is so easy to build, undo and rebuild. When I watch, her play with Lego blocks, I enjoy her world of pretense.

Lego comes from the Danish phrase ‘leg godt” which means “Play Well”. In Latin, it translates as “I put together.” My daughter and I thoroughly enjoy putting together Lego bricks and create a building of our imagination. But have you ever thought about the journey of Lego from becoming an idea to a giant in Toy industry? To me there is nothing more motivating, then a success story and the essence we derive from it. Here is one of my favorite success story – The Lego Story.

Christiansen’s story clearly demonstrates the power of persistence. He lost his job in Great Depression era, lost his wife and was left to raise four sons. Shortly after he started Lego, a fire broke out at the workshop, destroying all his drawing and models. Two more major workshop fires followed but he never gave up. Despite several hardships, LEGO still found the strength to rebuild over and over again. Reinvent again and again till you don’t reach your goal.
