7 Simple tips and tricks to get that summer glow

Put your hands up if you love a beautiful summer glow like JLO? All it takes is the perfect combination of beauty products.

First, let’s point the obvious. I have medium to tan skin and I don’t intend to look fair. And I have never tried fairness creams to lighten my skin tone. I also wish to add that I don’t judge anyone who uses skin lightening products or tanning products to change their skin tone. It’s your life…do whatever makes you happy. While it won’t be difficult to become bronzed goddess during the summertime, I absolutely love that summer glow.

I’m so thrilled to share some products and tips that can give you JLo glow. These will work perfectly on every skin too.

 Prep your skin

Nothing can beat a good skincare routine and 8-10 glasses of water but I have a trick that can prep your skin in less than 2 minutes. Take an ice cube wrap it in a cloth and glide across your skin post cleansing routine. This will seal your pores to give you a flawless look

 Liquid Luminizer/Highlighter

I always mix few drops of liquid luminizer/highlighter with my foundation to get a glow from within. Use a damp sponge to get the smooth natural finish. I use: NYX Born to Glow liquid illuminator in Gleam

Beautiful Summer Glow

 Bronzy eyes

I always reach for shimmer/bronzy eye shadows to get a subtle glow on my eyes too. My favorite tip is to do soft neutral smokey eyes by applying light shimmer shade to the center of eyelid and smudge a darker shade at the crease. Use a highlighter on the inner “V” of your eyebrow and on the tear duct. I use: Urban Decay Naked Palette 1

 Bronzer

Use a bronzer that is a few shades darker than your natural skin tone and apply it on your face, neck, and shoulder. This is a tricky step if you apply it incorrectly you end up spoiling your makeup. Always tap your brush before applying it on your face.  I use: Milani Baked Bronzer

 

Liquid or Powder highlighter

Apply highlighter on the high points of your face where the sun naturally hits the face. Don’t stop with just your face, apply it on your shoulder and collarbone. I use: the Balm The Manizer Sisters (Mary Lou-manizer is my favorite highlighter)

Metallic or glossy Lips

Glossy lips complement perfect summer look. These days metallic lips are very in right now. Don’t worry you don’t have to invest into it. Just dab your favorite highlighter on the center of your lips and you are ready to go.

Finish with a setting spray

Don’t forget to set your makeup with your favorite setting spray. Makeup meltdown is the last thing we want plus a good setting spray will keep all pigments intact. I use: L’oreal Infallible Fixing Mist

  1. I love the ice cube trick. I’ll definitely have to try that soon. As for lipstick, I’ve recently become obsessed with the matte look. I’m going to see how it works out during the summer. I may have to switch to the glossy or metallic look!

  3. I love this look! Do you like that setting spray? I have a L”Oreal one, too, but it is slightly different and in a black bottle. I think I like it, but I have never tried another. I like to use Becca Shimmering Skin Pefector, but the Maybelline strobing stick is really good, too!

    1. I have started falling in love with L’oreal fixing mist spray. I think you are talking about L’oreal Infallible Makeup Extender setting spray, I have heard all good things about that spray. 🙂

  6. Great tips for summer! I always love to use tinted lip balm with SPF and bronzer with a peachy blush. It always gives me healthier look 🙂

  12. Third times a charm!! I haven’t used bronzer because I feel that I may be too tan. It looks great on you! My go to setting spray is from Urban Decay. Must have!
