Put your hands up if you love a beautiful summer glow like JLO? All it takes is the perfect combination of beauty products.
First, let’s point the obvious. I have medium to tan skin and I don’t intend to look fair. And I have never tried fairness creams to lighten my skin tone. I also wish to add that I don’t judge anyone who uses skin lightening products or tanning products to change their skin tone. It’s your life…do whatever makes you happy. While it won’t be difficult to become bronzed goddess during the summertime, I absolutely love that summer glow.
I’m so thrilled to share some products and tips that can give you JLo glow. These will work perfectly on every skin too.
Prep your skin
Nothing can beat a good skincare routine and 8-10 glasses of water but I have a trick that can prep your skin in less than 2 minutes. Take an ice cube wrap it in a cloth and glide across your skin post cleansing routine. This will seal your pores to give you a flawless look
Liquid Luminizer/Highlighter
I always mix few drops of liquid luminizer/highlighter with my foundation to get a glow from within. Use a damp sponge to get the smooth natural finish. I use: NYX Born to Glow liquid illuminator in Gleam
Bronzy eyes
I always reach for shimmer/bronzy eye shadows to get a subtle glow on my eyes too. My favorite tip is to do soft neutral smokey eyes by applying light shimmer shade to the center of eyelid and smudge a darker shade at the crease. Use a highlighter on the inner “V” of your eyebrow and on the tear duct. I use: Urban Decay Naked Palette 1
Bronzer
Use a bronzer that is a few shades darker than your natural skin tone and apply it on your face, neck, and shoulder. This is a tricky step if you apply it incorrectly you end up spoiling your makeup. Always tap your brush before applying it on your face. I use: Milani Baked Bronzer
Liquid or Powder highlighter
Apply highlighter on the high points of your face where the sun naturally hits the face. Don’t stop with just your face, apply it on your shoulder and collarbone. I use: the Balm The Manizer Sisters (Mary Lou-manizer is my favorite highlighter)
Metallic or glossy Lips
Glossy lips complement perfect summer look. These days metallic lips are very in right now. Don’t worry you don’t have to invest into it. Just dab your favorite highlighter on the center of your lips and you are ready to go.
Finish with a setting spray
Don’t forget to set your makeup with your favorite setting spray. Makeup meltdown is the last thing we want plus a good setting spray will keep all pigments intact. I use: L’oreal Infallible Fixing Mist
Time to Sparkle. Shine. Shimmer. Glow

Hello Love, it’s monthly favorite time again. For someone who loves taking care of skin, I’ve never been into a skincare regimen. I used to wash my face, apply day/night cream and that’s it. But last month, I was introduced to double cleanse when I was researching about Korean skincare. The double cleanse starts out with an oil cleanser followed by a foaming cleanser. When it comes to face, oil cleansers are very essential to your cleansing routine as it takes out oil-based debris such as makeup, SPF and pollutants. It’s not really just a Korean Beauty secret.Sheet masks were also never a part of the routine. Recently, though, I became a convert. You can use sheet mask while watching your favorite show, reading a book, checking your social media – and afterward, you are left with the sense of accomplishment and a glow. So, without further ado, here is a crazy mix of products that were my favorites for the month of April.
Boots No7 Cleansing Oil
In April, I picked up the No 7 Beautiful skin cleansing oil – a luxurious lightweight oil that helps dry skin behave like normal skin for healthy looking, bright, beautiful skin. Oh! This beauty product instantly sold it to me with this description – especially as it has the words “beautiful”, “bright” and “healthy” in the description. I have used it for a month now and I can say that this product lived up to its expectation. The oil formula glides onto dry skin and after doing a massage for 1-2 minutes, rinse it off.
SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash Off
Holy Grail! Finally, I found an exfoliator that can deal with a devil on my face, blackheads. This scrub smells divine (Please don’t eat it!) and leaves your skin porcelain smooth and soft. If you haven’t read my review then read it here.
Sheet Mask
I am not living under the rock, I know how hyped sheet face masks are. Now, I know the hype is real. In case if you don’t know yet, I enjoy using sheet masks. One of my favorite sheet mask for this month was Tony Moly I’m Real sheet masks – fun, affordable, and effective. I find that after using sheet masks, skin becomes smooth which makes the makeup application easy.
Sephora waterproof eye makeup remover
I received this with my Sephora box. This is a lifesaver for me. It works amazingly with my waterproof mascara and liner. I never purchase makeup remover as I use makeup wipes or coconut oil but ever since I have used this I am hooked to it. This feels oily at first but it quickly fades. I remove my makeup in one swipe. Perfect!
Milani Baked Bronzer 06 – Golden
I was missing out something – Milani brand and baked bronzers. Milani baked bronzers are crafted on Italian terracotta tiles. This is a beautiful bronzer, it gives a perfect radiant look. It is a dark bronzer with a hint of copper and mahogany swirl. Go with the glow…stay golden!
Loreal Infallible Fixing mist
This new kid in the block isn’t easy to use. Loreal Infallible fixing mist claims to extend the wear of your makeup and prevent it from melting, fading and cracking. It has a ball bearing which shakes up the mixture before using. Shake the bottle before use or you might end up getting white hue on your face. Hold it around 20/25 cm away from the spray and spritz in an X & T motion. I am not sure if I like this spray or not. I might take some time to give my final verdict. Have you used this mist?
Victoria Secret Glossy Lip Oil – Coconut splash
Obsessed. I love this lip oil and it smells divine. I am so glad that I picked this up from Victoria Secret. I am impressed with the packaging of this product and the roll-on applicator. It keeps my lips healthy and moisturized. This little gem stays with me all the time.

“I came, I saw, I conquered” – Julius Caesar. Isn’t it more relevant now with the Korean skincare conquering beauty industry? Skinfood adventure!
Hi Loves, here’s a common question that always pops in my mind: Is it too late to start a skin care routine? Is it too early to focus on anti-aging? The short answer is no. In fact, the anti-aging regimen should start from the mid-20s. Yes, I missed the boat but it is never too late to start a skin care regimen. I am going to focus on specific issues and turn things around. When I first heard of Korean skincare, I was a bit overwhelmed as it involved a million steps. Koreans have one of the best skin in the world. Poreless, dewy and bright. I indulged in buying some Korean products and have decided to slowly move towards Korean skincare regimen. This week I was tempted to start with a good exfoliator and sheet face mask. My very first Korean brand is Skinfood which focuses only on food. “You are what you eat”- Skinfood. Mini-facial at home is the best way to relax and rejuvenate. Bonus: Chubby’s excited face and some cool selfies!
Skin Food Black sugar Wash Off Mask
Exfoliating is my favorite part of skincare routine. I have blackheads on my nose and I detest it. I love to exfoliate my face once or twice a week to make it poreless, smooth and clear without making it too harsh for the skin. This exfoliating scrub is the most recommended Korean exfoliator and it is divine. Apply the mask on your face for 10-15 minutes and then massage it gently on your face. Put some water in your hand if you think it is too harsh. After rinsing it off, my skin was glowing and was as soft as baby’s butt. Now I use it more on the T-zone and on my nose. Holy Grail!
“Enriched with minerals and vitamins, this face scrub effectively exfoliates dead skin that prevents makeup application, while revitalizing skin. “- Skinfood
Skin Food Everyday Lentil Facial Mask Sheet
I am not living under the rock, I know how hyped sheet face masks are. Now, I know the hype is real! Sheet face masks are a luxurious part of 10 step Korean skincare routine. Sheet masks are single use masks soaked in essence and serum to deeply hydrate and brighten the skin. These microfiber or hydrogel masks make sure that the essence is completely soaked into the skin by preventing it from evaporating into the air.
I love lentil soup! Lentils are dubbed as the superfood and I was excited to use it when I first saw the mask. The microfiber sheet spreads evenly on my skin and I instantly felt the cold sensation on my skin. I took off the mask after 15 minutes and noticed the luminous glow. My skin was left moisturized and it felt as if the fine lines on my forehead vanished. It made my skin look so much better and the best thing is that it is super affordable too.
Annnnnd yes, sheet mask boomerang is a must!
My experiment with K-beauty was successful. I can comfortably say that I am going to inculcate K-Beauty 10- step beauty regimen in my skincare regimen. I loved the way I was glowing whole day and even though the effect of the mask lasted for 3 days, I am pretty impressed. Don’t blame my highlighter for the glow!
Have you tried any Skinfood product? What do you think about the extensive Korean beauty regimen? Let me know in the comment.
Hello, Love! Spring getaway is on the cards and it’s time to set aside a week for Spring cleansing –call it spring cleaning. While I am ready with all the recipes for the Juice detox week, there’s another area of my life that needs a detox. Yes, I admit being a procrastinator at times but I am trying to improve. My closet is screaming on my face that it’s time to shed some fat. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be a “MINIMALIST” but I want to be a “REALIST”. Before I start with my wardrobe detox, I promise myself, to be honest, and brave. I want both to get a perfect result. So, what are we waiting for! Let’s begin with a crazy list to DETOX and DECLUTTER your closet in 6 steps:
1. Detox day
This is the first step to start a detox of your closet. Select a day to declutter your closet. Take out 2-3 hours from your busy schedule and dedicate solely to your clothes. As they say, if you respect your clothes, your clothes will bring respect to you. Do it once a month or once in three months.
I prefer once in three months.
2. Create a mess
Take out every damn thing from your closet for sorting. Once you take out everything from the closet, it will be like a blank canvas to fill color. Wipe your closet with a dry cloth and let it have some fresh air.
3. Sort into piles
This is the most important step in this activity. It requires lots of patience, honesty, and a strong heart. There are various kinds of clothes that reside in your closet. Here is a simple spring cleaning flowchart from Tommy John, a men’s underwear company, that made its name by focussing on quality fabrics. If you’re looking for perfect gift for your man then, check out what Tommy John Labs has to offer.
Segregate your clothes in these piles:
a) Clothes you love to wear and you take it out of the wardrobe every week.b)
b)Clothes that you never wear and you don’t wish to wear in near future as you have developed a dislike. For me, this pile is really huge because I buy clothes when there is a discount and I just want to own it. After a while, I realize it was a waste of money. SHOPPING GUILT!
c)Clothes that don’t suit you. After my pregnancy, my body shape changed and I had to get rid of clothes that don’t suit me anymore. Look for clothes that don’t fit you anymore, either they are too tight or too loose.
d)Clothes for the special occasion. Your expensive dresses that you wear only on a special day. Keep it in a different pile.
e)Clothes that are sentimental. My mother still keeps all sarees that she bought 30 years back as there are memories and emotions attached to it. Luckily, I am not as attached to my clothes as I am attached with my jewelry.
f)Clothes that you just can’t let go. I found that I keep my old t-shirts and jackets from various events from my life and I don’t wear them. I don’t have the courage to toss them as there is an emotion attached to it and they take so much of space in the wardrobe.
g)Clothes that are damaged and stained. Make a pile of clothes that need some stitching or dry-cleaning. Or are simply damaged.
4. Grab two boxes
Get two boxes and tag them- Donate and Trash
Donate Clothes: It has become a ritual for me. I donate my clothes to any organization or to the donation boxes to make sure that they reach the people who need it. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that I can contribute to society in any way. I do this on my birthday that is on 25th December. Trust me it will make you happy. Clothes that don’t suit you anymore and clothes you don’t wear donate them. Give it to someone who needs it. You will feel BLESSED!
Trash: I know this is the toughest thing to do but believe me you will feel better after getting rid of clothes that are damaged and are still there in your closet.Clothes that are damaged and Clothes that you just can’t let go, THROW THEM!
5. Arrange Clothes:
This is the easiest step in the process of wardrobe detox. Keep clothes in the wardrobe in the following manner:
Start with one item of clothing and stack them together. Keep all your pants, jeans and trousers together.
Color coordination will help you in giving you an idea what is your favorite color and which color you can avoid next time you shop.
Place your least used items at the top of the closet and the most used items in the main area of the closet.
Use boxes for the pair of socks, underwear, and accessories.
Hang or keep air freshener or dryer sheets to keep your wardrobe smelling fresh.
6. Essential Clothes
Yawning holes, stains and misfit underwears are signs of going for essential wear shopping. Do you know experts believe that your essential wear directly affects your health? And most of us wear wrong inners. Also, do you know according to a study conducted by Triumph, most women wear the wrong bra? And we invest in some of the most expensive bras. Make sure to review your essential wears in every 3 months and get your perfect fit, fabric and function inners. The illustration below from Tommy John helps in determining “The Lifecycle of your Essentials”. Check out Tommy John Collection here: http://www.tommyjohn.com/underwear . Essential Wear Lifecycle
I detox my wardrobe once in 3 months and it gives me immense satisfaction. Clutter is something that brings stress as a by-product. Next time, when you open the wardrobe you will experience the freshness and glorious space you just created. It will also detox your mental and physical well-being.
What would be the hardest wardrobe item for you to get rid off? Leave a comment below and let me know.

“Here cometh April again, and as far as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever.” – Charles Lamb
Hello, April! With warm sun and cool breeze, this is the month of love, laughter, and lipstick. Oh no…I meant love, laughter, and life. If you are new to my blog, every month I reveal my monthly favorites and today I am going to reveal my March favorites. As I told you before March is a very special month and it became super special with the arrival of a newborn in our family – my nephew. So, I had enough reasons to celebrate and use some of my favorite products. Here is a crazy list of March favorites:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
I have talked a lot about this product on my Instagram. I bought this palette in March and I used ONLY this palette the whole month. Absolutely love this palette. Read my review of this palette here. Look at this look I created with this palette.
Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick – Red Edition (Material Girl)
Ahhhhhhh…I love Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks! I got a set of three mini lipsticks. These lipsticks are clutch bag-compatible size and are pretty cute. I tried “Material Girl” and it gave me beautiful ‘plumped up’ lip look which can look good on any lips. As a lipstick aficionado, I am yet to try all the shades of mini lip-kit and write a review.
Silicone Makeup Sponge
I first noticed beauty vloggers using this sponge and then one fine day I found this beauty in a Japanese Dollar store, Daiso. Okay, I admit that I can’t even imagine my life without beauty blender but this sponge is worth every penny. It takes a time to get used to it but if you start using it…you will be obsessed! It not only uses a very less product but it is also very easy to clean it. You can wipe it down or simply wash it for next use.
Sephora Blush – Sweet on you
Wow! I am impressed. This is the only Sephora brand product I own and I don’t regret it. It looks like a pretty coral pink and a little goes a long way as it is highly pigmented. The only downside for me is that it doesn’t last long. I toss it in my bag with Real Techniques blush brush and I am good to go.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula – Baby Lotion
I got this as a sample in Carrefour and it was in my handbag for long. Until a few days back, I forgot to apply hand cream and found this beauty. It is super thick, smells really good and above all it isn’t greasy. It is supposed to be for my chubby but I guess I am going to use it now.

“Shopping is actually very similar to farming a field. You can’t keep buying the same thing, you have to have a bit of variety. Otherwise you get bored and stop enjoying yourself.” ― Confessions of a Shopaholic
Sometimes I look at myself and I think: No wonder hubby finds me spoiled. So, I bought it. The most perfect palette in the world. People will call me “Girl with renaissance painting”. I’ll be able to live with it. Really, it’s an investment. I own three eyeshadow palettes and they look quite similar to me. Same nude, browns, black and golden/pink undertone shimmers. There was something missing. Modern Renaissance palette is inspired by the colors of renaissance and it has some of the most beautiful eyeshadows suitable for every skin tone. I have had a love-hate relationship with Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks so I was quite nervous when I picked up this palette. But now if I had to repurchase two items from Anastasia Beverly Hills items, then I would definitely pick up Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Modern Renaissance Palette.
What it is?
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette is a 14-shade eyeshadow palette with pink, taupe and berry colors in matte and shimmer shades. It was launched last year and it is their very first permanent eyeshadow palette. It has already got the “CULT” status in the beauty world.
“An essential eye shadow collection featuring 14 shades, including neutral and berry tones. Use Anastasia Beverly Hills first permanent palette, Modern Renaissance to create endless looks for daytime and evening.”-Anastasia Beverly Hills.
How does it feel?
With 11 matte and 3 metallic shades, alongside a dual-ended eyeshadow brush, the versatile palette comes in a pink velvet case. When I first looked at the packaging, it reminded me of my Naked-1 palette from Urban Decay. These eyeshadows are highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. They are buttery in texture and very easy to blend.
Here’s a quick rundown on the colors:
Tempera:Ultra matte and a velveteen beige/nude color
Golden Ochre: A matte, earth-toned yellow color.
Vermeer:A fabulous shell pink shimmer
Buon Fresco:Matte mauve shade / antique lavender.
Antique Bronze: Metallic sable
Love Letter: Raspberry matte color with a dark pink tone.
Cyprus Umber: Dark coffee in a matte shade
Raw Sienna: Matte neutral amber
Burnt Orange: Matte Orange
Primavera: Shimmery champagne
Red Ochre: A matte, dark burnt red stone.
Venetian Red: Ultra matte deep red color.
Warm Taupe: Earth toned warm grey
Realgar: Ultra matte brick red/ dark orange
Every time I open this palette, I want to pick up a brush and start painting. But, honestly, it has so pretty warm undertone shades that you can create endless looks. My favorite eyeshadows from the palettes are Burnt Orange, Primavera and Love Letter
What I liked?
Ditching Black Smokey or nude eye and moving towards red-toned eye is something that I never imagined I will ever do. But look at the beauty of this palette that I couldn’t help obsessing over it. The selection of colors in this palette is beautiful and unique. These eyeshadows are so pigmented that you can expect some fall off on application. I always start with my eyes so it isn’t my problem. These colors are so beautiful that I also tried applying it on my lips with Vaseline.
I chose easy look for the first time as in excitement I didn’t even think of going into a complicated mode. I chose Burnt orange as a base, Love Letter on crease, Vermeer and Warm taupe on the lid.
What I didn’t like?
Though I absolutely love this palette there are few things that I didn’t like.
Packaging: Beautiful pale pink package gets incredibly dirty due to the velvet material used. It reminds me of Urban Decay Naked Palette purple velvet packaging which also gets dirty easily.
Fall-out: This isn’t a problem for me as I always do my eyes first but if you do your eyes after foundation and concealer then expect some mess under eye. Since, it is highly pigmented fall-out is something you may have to deal with.
In summary, this palette is already one of my favorite palette I own. This is a palette I would 100% recommend, if you are ready to switch to neutrals, browns and smokey eye to red-berry tone eyeshadows. Hey! Don’t get intimidated with all the dramatic eye looks you see on pinterest, Instagram and youtube, create your own and you will love this palette more. Like I did!
If you’ve tried the Modern Renaissance palette, let me know what you thought about it. Also, let me know your favorite eyeshadow palettes at the moment!
I loooooove winters in Dubai. Winters are mild here, it gives you enough opportunity to flaunt your favorite winter clothes. Fresh air, cool misty breeze, rain, and dark clouds make you yearn for more of these days. If you are planning to make a trip to Dubai then I would suggest you to come between November- March. Even though February is a short and relaxed month, nevertheless, this season I had a chance to buy, refill and empty few of my favorite products. In January, I had started a painting after years and this month I managed to complete it. I am planning to complete more of these in coming days as I truly believe in “Art Therapy”. February was all about finding the products that can make my dry skin – smooth, sculpted and hydrated. Here is a Crazy list of my Favorite beauty products for February – Month of love.
1-Jergens All Purpose Face Cream
I have tried several face creams but never got a cream that can make my dry skin hydrated and not oily. I look for a cream that is neither greasy nor dry. Jergens All Purpose Face Cream is rich and creamy without being oily. I use a pea size of this cream on my entire face and it gives me so hydrated and glowing skin. To be very honest, when I saw this product in Carrefour, I bought it only because of its packaging. No, its packaging is not extraordinary! What got my attention was the mid 70s-80s feel of the product. Have you ever tried a product because you liked its packaging?
2-Hask Charcoal with Citrus Oil Purifying Deep Conditioner
We generally associate coal with cleanliness and these days, you will find charcoal in everything-facewash, facemasks and, even, toothpaste. It is a new Coconut oil in beauty world. When I found Charcoal in a deep conditioner, I loved the idea. “Charcoal, derived from coconut shells, combined with citrus oil, absorbs impurities and helps restore hair to its natural radiance. We promise, the charcoal washes out!”- Hask Beauty. It made my thick wavy hair feel light and silky. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has thick and wavy hair, it removes all the buildup and impurities from the hair and restores natural shine.
3-L’oreal True Match Liquid Foundation
I loved my original L’oreal True Match foundation as it had medium consistency which made it extremely easy to apply with finger. At first, I just hated the new formula of L’oreal True match as it has a liquid consistency with some pigments. It stayed in the cabinet for a while until last month I decided to try it again. I applied it with Sigma flat kabuki (F80) brush and it gave that air-brush foundation look – smooth luminous skin. Now, it is my favorite foundation. I’m a happy bunny!
4-Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer
This is one of my favorite concealers especially when I’m in rush or don’t want to wear too much makeup. It provides decent coverage and highlight without being messy. I find it necessary to set it with translucent powder though. I am on my third tube so you can guess my extent of obsession for this concealer plus highlighter.
5-ELF Cosmetics Daily Brush Cleaner
I recently bought this product online, I didn’t expect it to completely clean my brushes as it isn’t a shampoo but a mist spray. I loved the way it cleaned my eye makeup brushes after every use. Not a single pigment was left on the brush. I haven’t used it on my foundation brush as I don’t think so that it can deliver the same result on brushes that were used for cream based products. If you are sensitive to strong fragrance, then you might not want to purchase this product. It has a strong smell but it didn’t bother me much.
6-the Balm – Manizer Sisters Luminizer Collection
This palette is guilty of being gorgeous! I am obsessed with this palette. I use it so often that my love for this palette is clearly visible. It is on the list as in February I preferred a subtle look with a glowing skin. Trio acts as a highlighter, eyeshadow and even a blush sometimes so when I am in doubt, I just reach for this palette. Mary Lou-manizer is my favorite….

Talking about style, today, I thought to compile Life lessons from the most influential women in history – Coco Chanel. I recently watched, Coco Avant Chanel and her story is so fascinating that I simply can’t resist to compile her very own jewellery

Brushes are as important as the clean canvas for a masterpiece. Similarly, clean make-up brushes are as important as healthy skin for a flawless makeup. I don’t want to talk about the reasons for cleaning your brushes, we already know it. But I want to talk about the easiest way to clean your brushes to make it an integral part of beauty routine. It isn’t the most glamorous task in the world but it’s worth it. Not only will cleaning brushes will sanitize it but also condition those expensive brushes – who doesn’t want to keep these tools forever. Today I am going to tell you how I deep clean my makeup brushes in the easiest way plus a drying hack.

Here are 5 steps to clean your precious weapon: Makeup Brushes:
Take out all your dirty brushes for cleaning
Dampen the brush slightly with lukewarm water. (Try not to dampen the mouth of the brushes from which it holds the bristles.)
Put some baby shampoo in a bowl and dip the brush in it.
Swirl the bristles of the brush in your hand or the egg-shaped brush cleaner. Adding a little bit of water to lather and then wash the product off.
Squeeze out excess product and repeat if necessary.
Voila! Your brush is clean and now it is ready to use after it is dry. Luckily, I got a case with Real Technique’s brushes to hold the brushes upside down. For my other brushes, I learned this amazing technique on Pinterest. to dry your brushes upside down. It is imperative to dry your brushes upside down to avoid water entering the base of the brush as it can break down the glue that holds the bristles together. All you need is a hanger and hair ties.
That’s it! Pretty easy to do it. Let me know what is your favorite way to clean your brush. Will you try hanger and hair ties trick to dry your precious weapon.

Happy Valentine’s Day, my Loves! I know it is quite late but I feel every day is a celebration of love. Valentine’s Day is all about red color – Red roses, red heart, red card, and red velvet cake. Oh! Wait I forgot Red Lips too. I used to be so jealous of my friends who could pull off red lips like a PRO. Until recently, I made my very own collection of red lip colors. Three years ago, in one of my experimental moods, I purchased Bourjois Rouge Edition- 13 Rouge jet set – a limited edition classic red. Bourjois Paris describes it as “The must-have shade for lipstick lovers, for this is a true classic red with slight blue hints. Ultra glamorous!”. I instantly fell in love with this lipstick and this is the only lipstick I still keep in my makeup collection even though I don’t use it as it is expired. I refuse to throw it. Do you find it difficult to let go your favorite makeup product? Since then I have tried different red lip colors and now I proudly own 5 red lipsticks – different yet they give authentic red lip trend. I know it is quite intimidating to apply red lip color as they are not always easy to apply. And unfortunately, there is a myth that red lips are not for every skintone. A red lip is like a black dress, it goes with everything and every skin color. I decided to let you know my 5-steps to get perfect red lips. The result- classic red lips to give you a touch of old Hollywood glamour.
Step 1: Exfoliate and Moisturize
Exfoliate your lips to get a smooth canvas. I mix sugar, olive oil and honey. Apply it on your lips, rub for couple of minutes, wash it with warm water and apply lip balm. And you are good to go. If you don’t want to do this then Lush’s Bubblegum is still there.
Moisturize your lips with a hydrating lip balm or lip mask. Leave the balm or mask as long as possible to get a smooth and healthy lip canvas.
Step 2: Apply Translucent Setting Powder
Wipe off the balm/mask with a tissue paper and make sure that your lips are totally dry. Apply a little translucent setting powder or baby powder to your lips. This makes your lipstick really stick and last longer. I use RCMA translucent setting powder.
Step 3: Wear a lip pencil
Lining your lips is the perfect way to neutralise lip’s natural color so that the lipstick will be closer to the color of the tube. I prefer my skin toned lip pencil, you can use the color that is closer to your lip color as well. You can skip this step too. If you are in a hurry, you can let go this step.
Step 4: Apply Lipstick
Now this is the most important step and it takes some time, if you skip Step 3. Apply lipstick on cupid bow and the outercorner of the lip. If you are using liquid lipstick, always start from the bottom of the lip.
If you don’t want the more intense look, apply red lipstick with your ring finger to get more natural look.
Step 5: Apply Concealer
Last step, apply a little concealer with a Q-tip on the border of your lip. This step will make sure that it will stop bleeding of the lip color. Dust some translucent powder again with a brush and re-apply lipstick.
Playing around different lip colors, I stumbled the perfect collection of red lipsticks. It is extremely important to find the formula of lipstick that works for you. Matte lipsticks are long lasting but it can be drying for lips. Creamy formulas are hydrating for the lips but it is not long lasting. Here is a list of my favorite Red Lip colors:
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Outlaw
Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick – Cheerleader
H & M Velvet Lip Cream – Le Beau Monde
L’oreal Paris Infallible – 701 Captivated by Cerise
Maybelline Colorsensational Vivid Lipstick – 916 Neon Red
